A Better Day

Mallory had a good day. A nice quiet day. The doctors read her x-rays and decided an additional chest tube was not needed. YIPPEE!! She peed like a champ! She peed so much they are going to cut back on the medicine that makes her pee. She has also had a couple of other medication doses cut and another cut out compleately.

The vent has slowly been turned down throughout the day and Mallory is maintaining her blood pressure and oxygen saturation levels and the amount of oxygen she is given has also been turned down. Dr. Canter decided it was time to turn her pace maker to standby this afternoon. Throughout the day he had slowly turned the pacer down to see what she could do on her own. She paced on her own for about an hour and a half then her BP and saturation levels started to drop. The pacer was turned back on, not as high as before, and her BP and saturation levels came back up. She had some long periods of wakefulness today. It's always nice to see those blue eyes smiling up at us.

It was a great day. Mallory took some great steps and the doctors didn't push too much. She did have a bunch of goop suctioned out of her throat that she is coughing up. Yech. But its better to have her cough it up than throw it up like this morning. Keep taking those baby steps Mal Mal!!

It's so good to hear about Mallory's "baby steps". We'll sure take them!!
She is always in my thoughts. What a brave little girl.
Madison comes in to see me on an average 3 times a day. Usually first thing in the morning, when she gets off the bus. Of coarse she can always find some boo boo that needs a bandaide!
I'm just so grateful that she does.
Logan not as much. Just once in a while.
But they both seem to be doing well. They're both strong too. Must come from good stock..
Hang in there. Know that we are all back here rooting for every baby step Mallory takes.

Hey Mallo-wee!
We drove by your cowner this mownin' (your HWY 50 corner that is), you know my mom doesn't dwive very good on country woads when it's waining! Anyways, I thought of Logan and Madi and said, Mama, when can I go over and play with them again? My mom said, well, they are kind of busy right now, waiting for Mallory to come home. So I said, when will we know when Mallo-wee is back home? And my mom said, as soon as we see Wendy's mini-van zippin' around on HWY 50! Have a super good day today, it's FRIDAY! I have to go to the dentist with my Dad today so I'll be sure to tell your mom's friends how well you are doing!

See you soon!
Max B.

P.S. You're not missing much here besides wain and mud :)

Mallory, Grandma Jan has been so worried about you the last couple of days and this news is fantastic. I am so anxious to see you and to be able to hug and kiss you again. I keep seeing you in my mind watching Mickey Mouse and doing your little dance. I can't wait to see you do that again. So you just continue to get stronger because everyone loves you here in Syracuse and wants you back home very soon.

Hi Mally,
Aunt KK here. I'm soooo happy that you had such a good day yesterday. You just keep doing what you're doing and keep getting rid of all the gunk, and get better. Evan loves to tell everyone that Malry (his spelling not mine) got her new heart. We love you all very much. I talked to your big sister last night while she was in the bathtub and she had had a good day at school. I love you and mommy and daddy very much.

Mallory :

I have to tell you that you are a beautiful little girl, and we are so very excited to hear of your news of the new heart !

I tried to reach your Mommy today and talk to someone in your family who shared the news.

My little girl, Maddie Grace received her heart from St. Louis Childrens after 7 months waiting . . . at the Ronald McDonald House at the apartments from October 2005 - May 2007 . . . We loved our entire stay - quite long but loved everyone in St. Louis !

I will reach out to your Mommy again for any support I might give . . . Dr. Cantor and Team are the BEST ! We adore Ms. Katherine, Ms. Nancy and Ms. Traci and all the Child Life Therapists - especially Becki . . . Maddie is doing great with her new heart after 6 open heart surgeries to encourage you and your Family to stay strong !

You can view Maddie's Story at www.maddieprice.com - We will be in touch again as we celebrate your great news for all the heart transplant childrens of this world !
